Vintage Japanese Jubako box. The box is a black lacquer exterior with a red lacquer interior. The top of the box has and inlaid mother of pearl design of butterflies in each corner and a medallion with a flower. The box also has a Chinoiserie pattern footed base. It is in lovely condition with no loss of paint.
Jubako boxes are stackable boxes that were used for food. This box has 3 sections. It is a wonderful Chinoiserie box that could also be used for jewelry as well as an accent box.
