Beautiful antique silver crumb catcher. The 1879 silver plate crumb saver or silent butler was produced by Rogers Smith and Company. The pattern is Newport Chicago and was designed by
H.W. Hirschfeld with a patent in 1879. The pattern was also produced in sterling by International Silver Company. The piece is in lovely condition with no loss of silver.
It was produced during the Aesthetic movement and it is evident in the pattern with a relief pattern featuring frowns of ferns, flowers and geometric Eastern patterns.
