Plymouth by Ridgways Shelton England platter. The platter is scalloped with a wide blue border and colorful floral medallion. Along the rim is slightly raised relief patter. The 12 inch platter has a creamy white background with blue trim.
It is free of chips and cracks. There is some light crazing, but it does not take away from the charm of the piece.
The hallmark on the back has the Ridgways mark with Shelton England. It also has an impressed number but I cannot make it out and some letters in a light green.
Ridgway pottery began in Staffordshire England as one of the earliest pottery factories in 1744. Through the years it has merged with other companies such as Booth's and Colclough China Company in the 1940's and later Royal Doulton in 1972.
It is a lovely platter especially if you like blue and white or a cottage farmhouse look.
