Italian pedestal compote with cherubs. The late 19th century compote has a base with small flowers and two cherubs holding onto the stem or pedestal. Along the pedestal is more delicate flowers. The bowl part of the compote is scalloped with flowers along the outside with a lattice design.
The piece is marked on the underside with an imprinted mark and the letters LZ along with the word Italy. It is a beautiful piece of pottery similar to Capodimonte. The tips of the little fingers on one of the cherubs have been broken but the shape of the fingers is still on the hand ( only the tips of 3 fingers that I can see). There could be a few other places but I have not detected it. If so it would be very minor. I have priced the piece accordingly.
The piece was used for a flower arrangement, but could even be used for fruit. Personally I think it would just be a beautiful piece to accent a chest or table.
