Antique silver bride's basket. The quadruple silver plated bridal basket was produced by Middleton Silver Plate in the late 1800's. The pattern or design denotes the Aesthetic movement that was popular from 1867- 1887. The basket is footed with a handle. The handle does not stand erect.
Around the base of the foot and. rim of the basket there is a raised relief design of leaves, dragon flies and birds. The pattern is also extended to the handle.
The inside bowl of the basket has a raised relief Asian pattern of stag with trees and people. The basket does polish beautifully, though on the underside of the basket there is some loss of silver. It is still silver in color but not as bright.
Theses baskets are perfect for receiving cards at a wedding or an office. They are also beautifully displayed with a fern or flower arrangement.
The fact that the hallmark designates Quadruple plate dates the piece before 1900
