Antique Brown Transferware Bowl, W. T. Copeland Stoke on Trent Open Vegetable Bowl, Aesthetic Movement Bowl Pattern Cairo,

$34.00 $40.00

Antique transferware open vegetable bowl. W. T. Copeland brown transferware bowl. The pattern is Cairo and was introduced in 1881 during the Aethestic Movement period. The bowl is in lovely condition for the age. It features an image of a bird flying with water lilies and circular floating objects with more birds and an Asian scene in the background. The rim of the bowl has a brown transferware floral and leaf design also found along the sides of the bowl.
I cannot find any cracks, chips or crazing on the bowl. The back of the bowl has the W. T. Copeland Stoke on Trent makers mark with some light gold numbers and an imprinted D 81 which probably dates the production of the bowl to 1881.
It also has the Copeland name imprinted with the letter B or D below it.
