Antique bridal basket. An Art Nouveau period silver plate bridal basket. The basket has a heavily engraved or chased floral design with scrolls, grape leaves and grapes. It also has a heavy beading around the rim and handle. This is a beautiful basket that I have actually used for years. It does have wear. You can see some tiny specks on the silver plate but the main wear is the bottom. It is missing the feet, please see photo 6. Without the base it will slightly move, but that has never bothered me. Priced Accordingly. I have actually used it as a candy basket on my entrance chest. It does have a hinged handled which is very steady and will stand upright.
The basket has a beautiful floral engraved pattern in the bowl. You can see the hand work when looking at the bottom of the basket.
The basket could be used as a card basket or a basket for a flower girl if desired.
The Art Nouveau period was late Victorian between 1890 - 1914.
