Satsuma style lamp. A vintage 1970's Satsuma style lamp. The lamp appears to have been a vase that was converted into a lamp. The vase or ceramic part of the lamp may be older than 1970's. I do believe it was converted into a lamp in the 70's.
The base of the lamp is a Chinoiserie style wooded footed base and the cap is brass with a Asian Chinoiserie style brass finial. It is a heavy lamp and in good working order.
The shade is being shown with a pleated tan silk shade. It did not come with the lamp but I am happy to include it. I would need to add extra for shipping due to increasing the size of the box. If you are interested in the shade please send a message for shipping cost.
The base color of the lamp is an ivory color with some crackling or crazing in the earthenware, with the predominate colors of cinnabar red, brown, and black. There are raised cream colored dots throughout the lamp. The images featured in the lamp appears to be geishas and men. One man has an elaborate hat, others are sitting. The lamp is very heavy and the body of the lamp is in very nice condition. I love the warm colors in this lamp
Please note that the lamp has a 9 inch harp. You can use a smaller harp if desired.
* As noted, the shade is not included with the lamp, if you are interested please send a message.
