A pair of Onyx horse head bookends. The large bookends are 9 inches tall. The horse heads appear to be made of onyx and the base a white marble or alabaster. The onyx stone is shades of beige to tan with linear stripes. The pair of bookends are from the 70's and in very nice condition for the age. The only thing I have seen is a small nick on one base. ( Photo 5). The place is smooth and has probably been there a long time. The bookends are probably from Italy, but there is no mark.
The set would make a wonderful gift for someone's library or office especially if they like equestrian decor.
